Elden Ring is the biggest From Software game to date, certainly the studio’s best yet, and is packed with secrets and challenges around literally every corner. I understand how scary popular developer releases can be for newbies, so I’ve created an Elden Ring beginner’s guide containing nine essential tips for new players to help make the most of it. Don’t miss the crafting kit
After adventuring into the open world, the crafting set will be the first item you buy. You can buy items from merchants in Elleh Church, north of the starting area, for 300 Runes. Crafting Kit unlocks potent perfume recipes, weapon grease, throwable flasks, health items for your mounts, valuable boosters, and more – it’s all going make your time playing Elden Ring more exciting.
Learn to run away
There are many mighty enemies that populate the world of Elden Ring, and you will encounter some of them in the first few hours. You don’t intend to beat some of the game’s challenges all at once. Instead, you should explore, upgrade, and come back later with enhanced knowledge and skills.
Sites that lost grace points towards the main goal
Like the bonfires and lanterns in From Software’s previous games, the Sites of Lost Grace are the checkpoints you’ll be chasing in the Elden Ring. These locations serve as quick-travel points, storage managers, and safe areas in most dungeons. Your health, focus points, and reusable potions will be restored when you rest at the Place of Grace, and you can also use these checkpoints to level up character stats or memorize spells new art.

How to unlock spirit summons
Spirit Summons are an essential tool in the Elden Ring. While they never do much damage, even if you upgrade them at the Round Keeper, the souls will help increase damage from bosses or large groups of enemies. They can even help you interrupt or shake off fearsome enemies. There are many different types of God Summons, all of them similar to the opponents you have faced in the world. You can summon wolves, floating jellyfish, or even Godrick Soldiers using shields, swords, and crossbows. Each companion works differently, so it’s important to find a companion that best suits your current playstyle or scenario. Collectibles are scattered throughout the vast world of the Elden Ring, and you’ll find them naturally by exploring and battling enemies.
However, it is completely possible to omit the Calling Bell, which is necessary for summoning spirits. To unlock, go to Elleh Church at night. You’ll find church ruins right up the hill from Step One, the game’s starting area, but beware of the Tree Sentinel guarding the path. After resting at your church’s Place of Grace, a specific NPC will visit you and give you a God Calling Bell, allowing you to use any God Summons you may have collected.
Finally, know that while you have access to them in every boss battle and in most open world areas, you can’t use God Summons everywhere. You’ll know you can use Spirit Summons when there’s a blue archway icon to the left of your HUD.
Dodge roll speed correlates with equipment load
Every piece of equipment has a weight involved, and if you don’t properly manage your build, you’ll end up being too slow to be efficient. The speed of your dodge scrolls correlates with your gear load percentage: light scroll at 30% of item load, medium scroll at 70%, heavy scroll at 71%, and if you exceed 100%, you will be over- thwarted and impossible to dodge. For first-timers, I recommend the mid-range. However, you can always upgrade your durability to increase your gear load threshold to carry heavier items while maintaining a faster dodge rate.
Upgrade your weapons ASAP
Besides observing and researching the world around you, the best way to improve at the Elden Ring is to upgrade your weapons. Weapon level plays a huge role in how much damage you deal, especially against bosses like Margit The Fell Omen. To upgrade your weapons in the early hours, visit the Church of Elleh and use the anvil next to the wandering merchant. However, you will need to visit the Round Table Holder (unlocked by ascending the main objective) and talk to the Blacksmith Hewg, who will allow you to upgrade weapons and equipment or clone skills. new weapon capabilities.
You can upgrade regular weapons to level 25 with Smithing Stones, while special weapons can reach level 10 with Somber Smithing Stones. Regardless, you’ll need to explore the world or loot enemies to find these resources. Trust me; You will be very happy when you see them.
Upgrade your flask by exploring
As you explore the Midlands, you’ll discover Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears, two items used to upgrade your reusable pot at Sites of Lost Grace. You can find Golden Seeds accompanying the Minor Erd Trees, small saplings that glow with yellow, while Sacred Tears are located in various churches scattered around the world. Golden Seeds increase the number of pot charges you have, while Sacred Tears increase the replenishment amount per pot.
You may reallocate your flask fees to your liking by resting at any of the Grace Sites. My power building requires minimal focal points – resources are used for spell and spell abilities – so I usually allocate all the charges in my potion to the Tear Pot. crimson to restore health. If you’re a heavy spell user, you’ll want to assign charges to the Cerulean Tear Pot, which restores focus when consumed.
How to find map pieces
At the start of the game, your world map will be completely empty apart from some of the Sites of Grace you’ve unlocked. To clear the fog of war and see a detailed version of the area you’re exploring, you’ll need to collect items called Map Shards, which you can find at tall stone pillars along main roads or prominent intersections. If you’ve thoroughly explored an area and are still missing the relevant map piece, open your map and zoom in, looking for a small icon that resembles a spiky pillar of rock. These icons will only appear after you have visited the area and then cleared the fog of war.

You may want to skip the tutorial in the Elden Ring. After all, there is a wonderful world waiting for you to explore. But don’t skip the tutorial.
