El Paso, Nightmare is an extra-dimensional horror FPS, debuts
Developer Strange Scaffold unexpectedly released El Paso, Nightmare today as part of the Steam Scream Fest. The team describes Nightmare as a “mind-wracking extra-dimensional piece of the classic CoD zombie formula” with some emotional baggage on the side. It’s basically a horror FPS that pits you against vampires, werewolves, and angels (the bad kind) across six biomes. This mini FPS acts as a companion to next year El Paso, elsewhere, previously announced third-person shooter
El Paso, Elsewhere is inspired by Max Payne. In El Paso, Nightmare players can “experience the motel from hell as soon as the bird flu first breaks out,” in preparation for playing Elsewhere, and it also features some tracks from the hip-hop soundtrack. by Elsewhere.
If you’re not familiar with Strange Scaffold, they have quite a few unique indie games below. The team was behind Witch Strandings and Space Warlord Trading Simulator, one of my favorite games from 2021.
El Paso, Nightmare is available on Steam at the regular price of £4 / €4 / $5, but it is offered as part of Steam’s Scream Festival.
Disclosure: Strange Scaffold is the label developer for Xalavier Nelson Jr., who has written on RPS for a while.
