I don’t know about you, but lately, I’ve been intrigued by matching sets. Case in point: Recently I stumbled across it Scoop Crochet Sleeveless Crop Top and Midi Skirt at Walmart and felt like a million dollars. Admittedly, I’m still hitting that mark and believe I’ve shown yet another great combination in Old Navy’s. newcomers section. Import Navy blue short sleeve shirt ($30) and the fit High-waisted patterned cotton shorts ($30).
I immediately fell in love with royal blue (called “Catalyst Blue” on the brand’s website). I’ve been seeing this color everywhere lately and knew it was time to move before it sold out, hence the record-fast Old Navy order. I scanned it from top to bottom, and by the time they mailed it, the temperature in Minnesota was in the 80s. That, along with the opening of the swimming pool in my apartment building, set the stage for the grand debut of this ensemble.
What I like about this old navy set
The real question is, what do not I love this Old Navy set? Answer: nothing! The jacket and shorts (both made of 100% cotton, FYI) are really soft, light and comfortable, perfect for those super hot days. But my favorite detail is the full coverage of the double woven cotton fabric, which adds to the luxurious look.
What Occasions Is This Old Navy Set Suitable For?
This combo set It’s undeniably versatile, but I think it’s the perfect fit to put on your swimsuit before heading to the beach or the pool. How did I wear it? Keeping the monochromatic theme, I wear a matching bikini underneath and top it off instead of buttoning it up. I skated on the oncoming slide, grabbed a tote bag filled with reading material, and set it on a bench on the lawn.
Would I Recommend This Old Navy Department?
Right! This suit screams summer style. If my Old Navy collection isn’t extensive, I would consider ordering it in one of the other five colors or a striped version – see: Short sleeve striped shirt ($30) and High-waisted striped shorts ($30) – but at this rate I need to reduce my scroll speed; This editor is obsessed.

Before you add this set to your cart, you should keep in mind that both the shirt and the shorts are a bit oversized, which means they’re ideal for those looking for a loose, slightly oversized fit. I ordered my regular medium size and liked the comfortable fit, but some shoppers said they wanted to downsize for a better fit. Also worth mentioning: some reviewers were concerned that the material was too great, but I found that the blue set provided plenty of coverage.
