Edgar Berlanga will lose to Angulo if he fights “head to head” Tim Bradley says

Via Adam Baskin: ESPN analyst Tim Bradley says Edgar Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs) will be knocked out if he stays in the bag and continues to hit Alexis Angulo (27-3, 23 KOs) on Saturday night in Their main event match was at the Hula Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Undefeated WBO 6th supermiddleweight contender Berlanga soon adjusted, from fighting two-time world champion Angulo to boxing.

Berlanga’s tweaks to his stroke & movement paid off, allowing him to survive ten innings for a unanimous decision win by scores 99-91, 99-91 and 98- 92.

Many boxing fans on social media disagree with those scores, believing that Angulo deserved the win over Berlanga.

Berlanga’s performance was unimpressive and left more questions than answers about his career. Although the famous 25-year-old Berlanga remains undefeated, he has shown no improvement from his previous two games against Steve Rolls and Marcelo Esteban Coceres.

It was immediately clear to all that unless Top Rank carefully confronted Berlanga against lower-ranking opponents, he would lose and his career would be over.

The way Berlanga has faced 38-year-old Angulo, it has been difficult, if not impossible, to see him progress enough to become world champion or even a contender in the group of five.

That raises the question. Should the top rating keep Berlanga on their payroll stable leave him as a bad habit?

“His coach walked in and said, ‘Look, what are you doing? Why are you trying to please your fans? ‘” said Tim Bradley ESPN about Edgar Berlanga’s coach letting him correct a lousy start to Alexis Angulo last Saturday night.

“In cases like this and great strides like these, you have to win, man. You have to win,” Bradley continued about Berlanga.

Bradley is going a bit overboard, calling 38-year-old Alexis Angulo “a big step forward” for Berlanga. If anything, this was a small step forward, and Berlanga fell short, seeing his victory as a problem.

“If he was in his pocket and fought toe by toe, he probably won’t make it out of the round. I’m going to tell you that right now because this guy is a bit heavy-handed,” Bradley said of 38-year-old Alexis Angulo.

“Smiling face, he was pleased with his performance,” Tim said of Berlanga. “Maybe not everyone at home is happy with what they see tonight, but you know what? I’m pleased with what he did tonight,” Bradley said.

“Yes, he did. You saw the reaction there from Angulo,” Bradley said of Berlanga about to bite his neck in the seventh inning.

“It tried to bite him. Are you kidding me? right away? Oh my God. Any. ‘Okay, I can’t stop him with my punches, so I guess I will bite himBradley talked about Berlanga losing his temper and resorting to biting his 38-year-old rival Angulo.
