Eddie Hearn predicts Gennadiy Golovkin to stop Ryota Murata

Via Jack Tiernan: Eddie Hearn thinks Gennadiy Golovkin could have a slow start to Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs) before going on to stop the WBA middleweight champion on Saturday night, April 9 on DAZN.

Ring rust is something Hearn has some concerns about IBF middleweight champion Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) as he hasn’t fought since December 2020. Murata and Golovkin will fight at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

There’s a lot for Hearn to worry about as Golovkin’s likely big fight against undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez in September.

Hearn wants to see Golovkin and Canelo meet in their three-part fight because he believes it is the biggest fight in boxing. Not only Golovkin has huge pressure on his shoulders.

Canelo has more pressure on him as he will be up against a talented boxer in a bout against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7. Some boxing fans believe Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs) is the best boxer in the 175-lb division.

“Two big bananasMurata and Dmitry Bivol,” Eddie Hearn told DAZN Boxing Show about the dangers Ryota Murata posed to Gennadiy Golovkin and Dmitry Bivol posed to Canelo Alvarez.

“I look at it, everyone is looking to September, Canelo vs GGG. These battles are all inconclusive and they all start with Gennadiy Golovkin this weekend,” Hearn said.

After all the time since the last match between Canelo vs. Golovkin in 2018. Too bad their three-part bout revolved around both boxers winning makeshift bouts against risky opponents.

The odds of at least one of them losing were very high, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Canelo and Golovkin were defeated. Canelo is a flat-legged gladiator who specializes in getting ahead of his opponents behind a high layer of protection.

Bivol is too mobile to lose to a fighter with a fighting style like Canelo, but you never know. Canelo could win a decision capable of impressing the umpires with his aggressiveness. Bivol won’t win if he doesn’t launch powerful shots, and if he does, Canelo will counter-attack him.

Hearn said of Golovkin: “He looked great, he was always living life. “Yes, he is a few years older than ideally in this situation, but I don’t think that will affect him.

“When you look at the tough battles GGG has gone through, the two battles with Canelo, the battle with Derevyanchenko, show me the other brutal battles he has gone through in his career. Not really,” Hearn said.

Golovkin had a brutal battle earlier in his career against Kassim Ouma, which was just as punishing for him as his battles with Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Canelo.

Golovkin was much younger when he fought Ouma, but he still suffered a lot of punishment.

“So, I’m not worried that he’s a lackluster fighter. Dad time will take that away from you, but I don’t expect to see a tired or shot Gennadiy Golovkin,” Hearn said. “I expected to see a dangerous Gennadiy Golovkin.

“I just feel that when a fighter is not much active when the first bell rings, Gennadiy sometimes starts a bit slow and you may find yourself in a situation where you get knocked down three, four, five times . People are looking at this, ‘Wow, Murata here looks great. Gennadiy starts off slow,” says Hearn.

It would be a REALLY bad idea if Golovkin fell behind Murata on Saturday because he has a much higher work rate. Golovkin probably won’t be able to return to the fight to win a decision.

“I hope Gennadiy will cut off the ring and get a hold of Murata and finally stop him Hearn said. “I wanted to go to Cinco de Mayo with Gennadiy Golovkin there, knowing that if Canelo Alvarez got past Dmitry Bivol, maybe we would get them into the ring then and we could start building the big fight.

“But as I said, Dmitry Bivol fights, but the task for Gennadiy Golovkin can be a more difficult opponent.

“I’m talking about getting on a plane, flying to Japan, getting into Murata’s stadium full of people, the decommissioning.

“It’s been a really exciting matchup and I’m really looking forward to Gennadiy Golovkin this weekend on DAZN,” Hearn said.

If all goes well, Golovkin and Canelo will meet on September 17 on DAZN in a major skirmish that will bring a lot of PPV buys and new subscribers.
