Eddie Hearn expects Haney to return to Matchroom after defeating Kambosos to become undisputed champion

Via Sean Jones: Eddie Hearn says Devin Haney will return to Matchroom Boxing and DAZN after he won four belts from George Kambosos Jr. on June 5. Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) signed a three-fight deal with Top Rank and Lou DiBella so he could face Kambosos (20-0, 15 KOs) for the lightweight championship undisputed.

The Battle of Kambosos is a two-fight skirmish for Haney with a third fight against Vasyl Lomachenko when/if he returns from the war in Ukraine later this year or early 2023.

What Hearn doesn’t realize is that Top Rank might pick Haney an offer he can’t refuse if he beats Kambosos twice and Lomachenko.

For now, it’s still too far to tell if Haney is the undisputed lightweight champion as the smoke clears from those three skirmishes with Top Rated.

For all we know, Haney will lose all three of his battles under the Top Rated banner, in which case Hearn may have what’s left of him and his plummeting career that.

Hearn is thinking of a best-case scenario where Haney is involved in these three wars, but things could go very wrong for the 23-year-old.

If Haney loses all three games with Top Rank, we’ll see if Hearn wants to welcome him back in his wits & DAZN showdown.

Sean Jones’ speculation is that Hearn won’t touch him with a 10-foot-tall pillar, and that he might become invisible to him. What would Hearn want with Haney if he lost three games in a row?

Heck, Hearn has had issues as Anthony Joshua’s career has sunk with two losses in his last four fights. If AJ loses his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in June, it could be the end for him.

“His plan was to go get those belts and come back. I want Devin to be undisputed. Devin was a very loyal kid, but you just can’t miss an opportunity like this,” Eddie Hearn told DAZN Boxing Show.

Top Rated promoter Bob Arum improved on Hearn in a recent auction for a Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte bout on April 23.

If Arum wants Haney to stay in Top Rank after his three-match deal is complete, you can bet he’ll make that happen. Arum has a way to turn warriors into stars, and so far, Hearn has failed to reach Haney.

Kambosos on Haney: “Do As You Said”

“The official announcement has yet to be made, but we are imminent and very close,” Kambosos told Australian Sports News. “I am waiting to see the official contract because he is party B, so you will do as you said.

“We’ll make sure it’s all pretty,” says Kambosos. “There were no fake signatures, and then we had a fight with no problems. I’m protecting my beautiful belts.”
