Eddie Hearn Believes Tyson Fury Can Vacate His WBC Title

Via Barry Holbrook: Eddie Hearn believes it’s more likely that Tyson Fury will vacate his WBC heavyweight title than defend it against his mandatory Dillian Whyte.

Hearn said he noticed that Fury and the promoter weren’t talking about Whyte at all, and he felt that they might be thinking about vaping the WBC belt.

For the money that Fury could fight winner Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk, there will be little incentive for him to take on Whyte. It was an unnecessary obstacle.

While that might please Hearn because Whyte would be able to fight for the vacant WBC belt if he wasn’t elevated to full champion, he doesn’t like the idea.

He wants Whyte to fight Fury, as he feels it will be a huge fight in England. Whyte has to fight Fury.

If Whyte were elevated to the WBC champion outside of the ring, he would be considered an email champion and he would never be respected.

Fury and his Top Rank supporters haven’t said that they plan to vacate the WBC belt, but it looks like they’re headed in that direction.

Bob Arum said that Fury will fight on March 26 which means he will likely do so without the WBC title.

Hearn points out that champions have to defend against their obligatory challengers, and he doesn’t understand why Fury doesn’t do that.

Heard Fury CANNOT fight on March 26

“As far as I know, I don’t believe that’s possible in the current legal situation with the Dillian Whyte case,” Eddie Hearn told iFL TV as Tyson Fury fought without his WBC title. on March 26.

“I don’t know. Tyson Fury can do whatever he wants. If he wants to vacate the belt, I guess he can fight on March 26. I don’t know why he would want to give up his belt.

“The value has always been in owning the belts and being undisputed,” says Hearn.

“I don’t know why the Whyte fight took so long to make because it was such a natural fight and such a great fight for British boxing. It’s huge,” Hearn said.

The WBC will be the body that decides whether Fury can fight on March 26 without defending his title with their organization. Given that the WBC ordered him to fight Fury, they might insist on asking him to do so.

Team Fury doesn’t talk about Whyte

“It was a war where no one spoke on their side. Fury wasn’t really talking about the fight with Dillian Whyte. Frank and Bob talked about it briefly. Bob brushed it aside, ‘He [Whyte] want too much money. ‘

“But when we have the imperative, Pulev, Usyk or Povetkin and they’re pretty hard to negotiate because they’re in a great position because they’re imperative.

“He [Joshua] not just empty the belt. ‘It is very difficult to negotiate with Usyk. We are not fighting him. We will fight with others. ‘ You have to take care of your imperatives as a champion,” says Hearn.

It’s not a good sign that Team Fury doesn’t mention Whyte by name as it suggests that they may be thinking of vacating the WBC belt.

Fighting Whyte would be risky, and it seems like Team Fury would rather avoid it because there’s so much money he would lose if defeated.

When you can make countless millions, you don’t stand any chance. Winner Joshua-Usyk 2 wants him to have the WBC belt, but that won’t stop them from fighting him next.

More importantly, boxing fans won’t care if Fury skips the WBC belt, as they still want to see him fight Joshua or Usyk.

Whyte has a Plan-B without the Fury fight

“I just feel it was a great fight. Tyson Fury will believe he can beat Dillian Whyte, but it was a really good fight.

“I think about the value of the fight and what we feel is fair, I think it’s dollars, pounds, whatever you want,” Hearn said when asked if what Bob Arum said about the fight. Whyte wants 10 million dollars to fight Fury is it right.

“I have a Plan A, B, C, E, F, G for everyone. Yes, there is a Plan-B for Dillian Whyte, but right now, it’s a case of getting the fair share,” Hearn said.

Whyte’s Plan B will depend on the World Boxing Council if Fury leaves the WBC belt vacant. Should Fury give up, the WBC will no doubt order Whyte to face off against the top-ranked contender in their standings for the vacant title.

Whyte will face one of the following candidates:

1. Deontay Wilder
2. Andy Ruiz Jr.
3. Joe Joyce
4. Luis Ortiz
5. Joseph Parker
6. Frank Sanchez
7. Michael Hunter
8. Agit Kabayel
9. Filip Hrgovic
10. Arslanbek Makhmudov
