Eddie Hearn Believes Jake Paul Will KO Tommy Fury: “He Will Mentally Knock Him Out”
Organizer Eddie Hearn has had his say on the upcoming showdown between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury – and he believes the bout will end in a knockout.
Hearn can be credited for bringing Jake Paul to the mainstream boxing audience. Since his first underdog fight with another YouTuber, the American superstar has moved on to take on tougher opponents in the form of a retired MMA fighter.
He is currently answering calls from fans to come face to face with a ‘real boxer’ – and Tommy Fury, with his experience, name and reputation, fits the bill. Although the couple’s two fights have ended, it looks like it will be the third lucky one with a date in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, February 26.
Failure would be extremely damaging to both of them, and Hearn said to Time MMA that he thinks the Jake Paul train will roll while Fury faces defeat.
“Tommy Fury has unbelievable limits, but he is a fighter. So all criticism of Jake is ‘you’ve never fought a boxer’. He’s about to. Not a very nice person, but still a boxer. For Tommy Fury, it’s a shame to lose to Jake.”
“Mentally, he’s going to beat Tommy Fury… I think he’s going to mess with Tommy mentally, and I just think when they’re in the ring, if they’re in the ring, I think Tommy is going to get beaten up. defeated before the match. even happened. And I think I’ll win by knockout.”
The predictions are in line with bookmakers, who have a bit of a crush on Paul at the time of writing. That doesn’t take away from Fury’s confidence, though, who is adamant that he takes tougher hits on a daily basis.
The bout is set at the top 185 lb weight class and is scheduled to take place over eight innings. It will be broadcast on Sports ticket office BT in the UK and ESPN+ in the US.
