Easy Hamburger Soup Recipe – A Beautiful Message
I don’t know about you, but I’m still looking for simple dinner ideas for those chilly nights. So I am here again to spread the good news and great joy of SOUP.
This easy hamburger soup recipe is being filmed at our house this month.
Hamburger soup, as the name suggests, is made with ground beef and other ingredients/condiments you might find in a homemade hamburger.
I even like to add a little bit of my cheddar cheese and serve it with pickles to really get the hang of it. LAUGH.
I add flavor to this beef soup through spices and aromatics. This soup recipe features shallots and garlic, as well as spices like cayenne pepper and chili powder. So, although the taste still brings a feeling of simplicity and familiarity, it is not boring or boring.
I also love making this hamburger soup recipe without broth or beef broth; I like to use vegetable stock to balance out the flavors a bit.
You can use any ground beef, or even ground turkey, instead. I prefer to use a higher-fat ground beef, like the Boston burger (it’s a mix of pork and beef), but if you want to lose fat, use lean meat instead. .
I think this hamburger soup is great. However, you can also toast some burgers or add some crushed saltine crackers as if you were eating chili.

-
Minced red onion and minced garlic.
-
In a medium to large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onions for 2 minutes until starting to soften.
-
Add garlic and cook for one more minute. Then sprinkle with cayenne pepper and chili powder. Season with a little salt and pepper.
-
Add the ground beef and break it into small pieces with a wooden spoon while it cooks. Cook until there is almost no pink part left (but a little is fine as the stock will continue to cook a little bit).
-
While cooking, peel and chop the potatoes and carrots. When the meat is almost done, add these to the pot.
-
Add the can of diced tomatoes with the juice.
-
Add the vegetable stock, keep the heat at medium.
-
Cover and cook until the potatoes are soft enough that you can easily mash them with a wooden spoon; This process may take 15-18 minutes.
-
Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Served with shredded cheese.
You can use any ground beef for this recipe, or even ground turkey. I prefer to use ground beef with more fat like the ‘Boston burger’, a blend of ground beef and pork.
You can also garnish with some chopped fresh herbs like cilantro or green onions.
Serve with some grilled burgers or pickles for a real hamburger experience.
