EA and Marvel are committed to making “at least three” more superhero games, with the first Iron Man
At least two more Marvel superhero games will come from EA as part of a long-term deal with Marvel. We already know about the single-player Iron Man action adventure game from Motive Studios, announced in September, but the others are still just an amorphous creative block that can give you the strength and speed of a badger on physical contact. Revealing that EA and Marvel are making some sort of Marvel Game Universe can either delight or disappoint you, depending on how bored you are with the MCU.
All we know so far about what EA and Marvel are planning are all games that will be action-adventures for PC and consoles, with an “origin story” set in the Marvel Universe. Seeing as there are so many different Marvel Universities now, with the MCU, comic 616 and other movies, it remains to be seen how EA takes on the superheroes. No company has yet told us which good guys will star in the games, so I’m just assuming it’ll be Young Avengers and Eternals. Hi, Kieron.
Marvel’s recent history in games is rather patchy. Yes, there are outstanding successes such as Marvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredand coming soon on PC Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Ed there was an explosion with Guardians Of The Galaxy by Eidos Montréal, calling it “unacceptable”. On the other side of Infinity Gauntlet-ed, you have games like Marvel’s Avengers, which never really seemed to have much of a chance. However, Firaxis’ Marvel’s Midnight Sun looks like a promising mix of XCOM tactics, card confusion, and serious superhero dullness.
No more details about EA and Marvel’s upcoming superhero games have been revealed, but I’ll update you as more radioactive news comes out.
