Capturing the OLG Canadian Triple Crown’s second jewel is a feeling Stein can candidly describe.

“I’m on a high,” Stein said. “Let’s put it that way. It’s going to last all day, and tomorrow, and possibly Thursday.”

Prior to this race, Stein had ridden in six of his seven career starts, including the Queen’s Plate.

“The Plate was a superior race in my opinion. Today, when Duke was on the track after the parade, he was in the game. He was much cooler. Heat. His body temperature on Plate day, he was quite nervous and Stein said, “He knows what he’s doing today. He kept looking back at the gate, as if we were going? You can just feel his energy is so much more in line with what he has to do today.”

Coach Josie Carroll has won this race in previous years with the likes of Mighty Heart and Amis Gizmo.

Carroll said: “He had the ride today. Justin rode him perfectly. We discussed what we were hoping for.” “I want Justin out of the fence, where he won’t be forced down there and in a lot of trouble this time. We want him to have a nice clear ride. The horse seems a bit lost in the ride. The lead was tense, but Justin kept busy with him and brought him home.”

MyRacehorse East Coast race manager Harry Rice was on hand to see Duke of Love persevere and claim the OLG Canadian Triple Crown’s second jewel. He was delighted with the victory.

“It’s been great. We have about 900 owners related to Duke. So to have the 25 owners that we have here and see him finally put it together. We were. always knew he was going to do it. It was something else. We have people who have traveled from all over the world — Americans, Canadians, and it was just an unbelievable day. give him a great ride, so that’s good.”
