Apparently the drought has gotten so bad in many parts of Europe, including Germany, Italy, France and Serbia, that authorities in various countries have resorted to dredging the Danube to keep it open. These exposed ships only exacerbate the problem.
They’ve narrowed the traversable sections of a section of the Danube to just 100 meters – that’s only about half of the previous 180-meter passable section.
Earlier this year, the Serbian government assessed the cost of removing sunken ships, ammunition and explosives. They found out it would cost only about 29 million euros ($30 million US dollars).
Currently, there is no word on what the fate of the wreckage will be, but it can be seen very clearly. Damn Nazis.
