The winner of this year’s Photography4Humanity award is Indian photographer Apratim Pal, whose photo “Earth Thirsty”, capturing both the environmental and human costs of the escalating climate crisis in West Bengal, India Degree.
Photography4Humanity, a United Nations-supported initiative, calls on amateur and professional photographers around the world to live the power of human rights through their images, while inspiring Get everyone involved and stand your ground.
Yauhen Yerchak’s photo, “A protest with a woman’s face”, was one of the finalists. Taken during a protest rally in Belarus, it captures the fragility and power of a group of Belarusian women who rallied in support of opposition leader Maria Kolesnikova.
The work of Mr. Yerchak and Mr. Pal, along with the work of nine other finalists, was displayed and discussed at a special event held at the Fotografiska gallery in New York on New York Day. United Nations human rights. All pictures can be seen here.
