Drake says he regrets naming past flames in songs

drake recently opened to Lil . Cruise about some lyrical decisions in the past that he “could have made if not.” Specifically, he admits his decision to drop women’s names — including women like Ki-Ki, Bria & Nebby — in songs is not something he’s particularly proud of.

Drake says his references were ‘never with bad intentions’

This topic appeared in Volume 1 of FUTUREMOOD’s “A Mood Conversation” series. While chatting on a picturesque beach, Lil Yachty delivered a line in “Rivers on Weston Road,” where Drizzy announced that he “has plans to[s] retire” at the age of 35.

Since he’s now 36 years old and still rock solid in the game, Drake went on to say, “I hate to hear that.” Ouch! The “Rich Flex” rapper then went on to note that, in addition to his age-based lines, he regrets the times he “says girls’ names in songs.”

“I think and some times when I say girls’ names in songs, maybe those are two things that I look back on and I think, ‘Maybe I could have done it without, like, s *** ting people about their age or interrupting someone’s life’”

Drake went on to add that, while his lyricism is “never meant to be evil,” he knows that ultimately leads to “the fact that [he] many words.”

“Lyrics were never meant to be malicious, but I’ve had people say to me once, ‘You know, that’s not necessarily what you’re saying about me, it’s the fact that you said it. .’”

Drake says he’s completely honest in his music

As the conversation continued, the Toronto-based hybrid artist referred to a discussion that sheds light on the impact these references have had on women’s lives, as they are the last to “pick up” piece by piece”.

“Only in a sense, like, ‘You don’t know how it affects me. You don’t know who my boyfriend was at the time or you don’t know what my family knows and doesn’t know. And if you express any form of discontent towards me in a song and call out my name, suddenly I am left to pick up the pieces of the life that I have been trying to build for myself. .’ So I tried my best to stop doing that.”

However, Drizzy certainly pointed out, “But I also like honesty in music, so that’s a push and pull.”

Humorously, after remarking that Drake “was [name-drop] a lot,” Yachty revealed, “I used to think you were naming girls.”

Despite Yachty’s suspicions, Drake clarified that he “never named a girl.”
