Donald Trump endorses displaying the 10 commandments in schools, may sell gold-plated tablets with his image later this year
Donald Trump enthusiastically endorsed the display of the Ten Commandments in schools (finished elsewhere) over the weekend, despite quite famously violating at least four of said 10 and one of them in a literal sense black is thousands of times. On Truth Social, he speak his followers: “I LOVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND MANY OTHER PLACES, FOR THAT MATTER. READ IT – HOW COULD WE, AS A NATION, BE WRONG??? … BRING BACK TTC!!! MAGA2024.” And on Saturday, speaking at a gathering of the evangelical group Faith and Freedom Alliance, Mr request crowd, “Has anyone read ‘Thou shalt not steal’? I mean, has anyone read this incredible thing? Unbelievable. They don’t want it to increase. It’s a crazy world.”
Putting aside the fact that he talks about the Ten Commandments like they’re a hot new indie band he just discovered, it’s clear that Trump is rich in supporting the expression of religious directives because he has spent his entire adult life blatantly disregarding them. For example, he doesn’t seem to care about obeying his favorite person (“Thou shalt not steal”) when he helped myself for a series of government documents he may not take with him when he leaves the White House in 2021 or when he uses his charitable foundation to buy, among other things, a 6-meter high portrait of himself. He also publicly taking the name of the Lord in vain.
In addition, Trump also violated another commandment (“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy”) when he posted the following message about Easter: “HAPPY EASTER TO ALL, INCLUDING THE EXCELLENT AND CORRUPTED PARKS AND JUDGES WHO ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INTERFER WITH THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, AND PUT ME IN PRISON, INCLUDING MANY PEOPLE WHO I COMPLETELY & COMPLETELY MISS THEM WHO WANT TO REMOVE AMERICA, A CURRENTLY FAILING COUNTRY, AS ‘DYSFUNCTION’ JACK SMITH, WHO IS EVIL AND ‘DISEASED.’”
Perhaps most importantly, there is also the commandment: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor,” that is: you shall not lie. Come on Trump Literally yes all time.
And of course we can’t forget the whole sentence “Do not commit adultery”. Even if one believes Trump’s claim that he did not have an affair with Daniels storms—and only paid her $130,000 just for fun—he did it only one job with Marla maple while he was married to Ivana Trump. (In testimony last year, he boldly claimed not to remember whether he started seeing Maples before the divorce, speak“The marriage is almost over. So I don’t know, really. It might be a subversion, but I really don’t know.”)
Despite Trump’s long history of behavior, many Christians will actually notice problematic at besthe did it convince A large number of Protestants believe that he is essentially the second coming of Jesus, in part because hug Christian nationalism (and killing Roe v. Wade). On whether Louisiana’s new Ten Commandments law will survive have the ability to appeal to the Supreme Court, that remains to be seen, although it clearly does some people on the bench Who would believe it was such a great idea, separation of church and state be damned. One thing maybe we Maybe based on? It’s a Trump-branded line of the Ten Commandments, with his signature at the bottom, is in progress.
