Donald Trump Attacks ‘Fake Movie Actor’ George Clooney After NYT Op-Ed
Chairperson Joe Biden And Donald Trump are more likely to bond over one topic these days: not being big fans of George Clooney. On Wednesday, Clooney published a New York Times The editorial said that Biden should drop out of the 2024 presidential race due to his age. That night, Trump took to Truth Social to weird explosion oscar winnercriticized Clooney for turning his back on Biden—who, as a reminder, is running against Trump—while insulting Clooney, calling him a “phony movie actor” and asserting that “movies never really worked out for him!”
Clooney expressed his views in an article titled “I love Joe Biden. But we need a new candidate.” The longtime Democrat and major Democratic donor heaped praise on Biden in his essay, calling him a “friend” and a “hero.” But despite his personal affection for the president, Clooney made it clear that he believes Biden should withdraw from the 2024 election due to his advanced age — saying he has seen Biden’s declining abilities firsthand. Hollywood’s Glamorous Fundraising where Biden appeared alongside stars like Julia Roberts And Barbra Streisand“It pains me to say this, but the Joe Biden I met three weeks ago at a fundraiser is not the Joe Biden I met three weeks ago.Big F-ing Deal“The Biden of 2010,” Clooney wrote. “He’s not even the Joe Biden of 2020. He’s still the same guy we all saw in the debate.”
“It’s about age. Nothing more than that,” Clooney continued. “But it’s also irreversible. We’re not going to win in November with this president.” Biden, for his part, has said repeatedly that he did not give up the racedespite growing calls from key members of his own party to do so.
While you might think Trump would cheer on anyone criticizing Biden at this point, the former president actually attacked Clooney in his Truth Social post. “So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting in on the act,” Trump wrote. “He has turned his back on Crooked Joe like the rats that they both are.” His words had an obvious metaphorical ring to them: Given that Trump had surged ahead of Biden in the polls after the debate, Trump and his allies is said to be keen for President Biden to stay in the race.. Attacking Clooney for criticizing Biden instead of praising Clooney may just be Trump plays chess, not checkers.
In any case, the former president and currently convicted criminals continued to use his disdain for Clooney to criticize the sitting president. “What does Clooney know about anything?” Trump asked. “He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the WORST President in American history, ‘saved our democracy.’” Trump went on to criticize Biden over inflation, the war in Afghanistan, and his handling of the border.
Ultimately, Trump’s tweet ended where it began: criticizing George Clooney. He ended his post with a bizarre jab at Clooney’s movie star status, imploring the Oscar winner to “get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked out for him!!!” Trump added, with three exclamation points. Hurt.
Saying that George Clooney is a “fake movie actor” who “has never come close to making a great movie” is of course blatant misinformation on Trump’s part. Although Clooney has had a few misses (to say the least) Heroic Monument, better), he has had numerous hits and critically acclaimed titles in his illustrious and wide-ranging career. Clooney has starred in and/or directed serious films such as Michael Clayton, Good night and good luck, Ides of March And Syrianwon him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. He is also great in comedic dramas like Descendants, On the air (both of which earned him Oscar nominations for best actor), Burn after reading, Hey Brother, Where Are You?and incredibly underrated Cruelty is unacceptable. Damned, Ocean 11 The franchise alone was enough to cement Clooney as one of the greatest movie stars of our time. His undeniable charisma and chemistry with Julia Roberts were superb in Ocean films they collaborated on again twenty years later fun Ticket to Heaven.
Apparently for Trump, no movie or performance can compare to that masterpiece. [checks notes] a fleeting appearance in Home Alone 2. Or maybe he’s just a big fan of Emergency room?
