DJI has launched Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal and it comes with a larger clamp than its predecessors to accommodate larger phones or smaller ones with bulky cases. It has a new handle grip designed to be more comfortable to hold, but it still holds Osmo Mobile 5’s The built-in extension stick allows you to use it as a selfie stick. The Osmo 6 also features an improved version of DJI’s ActiveTrack, which enables stable tracking over longer distances and allows the phone’s front camera to track subjects turning or turning to the side.
Another new feature is Quick Launch for iPhone. As long as the iPhone is attached to the stabilizer, the Mimo app immediately enters the camera view when the gimbal is opened. DJI says it can significantly reduce preparation time and can get the phone ready to take pictures up to three times faster than previous Osmo Mobile models could.
The new gimbal has a built-in status panel that allows you to quickly check the battery level, as well as a Mode button that gives you a way to switch between modes with each touch. When in Track mode, the camera view remains locked during scrolling but follows the pan and tilt movement of the gimbal. Tilt Lock allows the camera view to track the gimbal’s rotation but remain stable throughout the spin and roll. Camera View closely tracks all gimbal movements in FPV mode for more dynamic footage, while SpinShot lets you control the camera view by moving the joystick left or right.
Just like its predecessor, Osmo Mobile 6 also has some smart features, namely timelapse, gesture control, auto dynamic zoom, panorama and story mode. Finally, the gimbal comes with a Side Wheel that allows you to control and adjust the focal length and zoom in or out. DJI Osmo Mobile 6 will be available starting today from the company online shop for €169 / £145 (US$166) and will be coming to more retailers in the future. It will ship with a magnetic clip, tripod, power cable, wrist strap and carrying case.
