DIY Spring Wreath Ideas – Carrots

I feel like I have to admit that I’m not the best at decorating for spring or Easter. I’m so excited for the fall and holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgivingand Xmas), but in spring I just forget about the seasonal decoration even though I really like it.
So I’m trying. Here’s a spring wreath I made myself recently using shredded carrots. This is partly inspired by Laura’s yarn pumpkin wreath, which I think is super cute. You can think of this as a companion to the spring theme.

This DIY is basically how to make carrots from foam cones, yarn, and felt. This is a good project if you like hot glue guns — that’s when I knew I was making.
Once you’ve created the carrots, you can simply add them to yarn or even layer them with other garlands you may already have.

Looking for more spring decorating inspiration? Try the following projects:

Munition:
–foam cone
–orange paint and brush
–orange fiber
–green felt
– fabric scissors
–hot glue gun and Adhesive

Step one: Paint the foam cones orange. This prevents the white foam from getting through the fabric.
Step two: Wrap the painted (dry) cones with orange thread using hot glue as an adhesive. I think this is pretty simple, but you can see me doing this in the video above if needed.
Third step: Create carrot tops from green felt.
Step four: Attach the tops with hot glue. You can now hang these carrots into a wreath, garland, or whatever you want to decorate with them.

Personally, I love a wreath on our fireplace. I hang it with just a few small nails. But, if you need a damage-free option, I recommend using Command strip.
You can also hang a seasonal garland over your piano, doorway, open shelf, or above your bed.

I layered my yarn carrot wreath with a black and white Easter egg garland that I already have. I like the contrast of the colors together.

Thanks for allowing me to share my DIY spring wreath ideas with you. I love the look of it hanging over our fireplace this month, and it makes me even more excited for the season.
And in case you’re curious, the portrait above my mantle is vintage. It really is a family heirloom — a portrait of my great-grandfather, Rafael Vegas. so so. Emma
