Discover the full history of the game Supergiant ‘Pyre | Video games

We have emerged from the depths of the BioShock series to start a new season of Video Gameography! We’re doing things differently this time because we’re discussing a single developer’s game rather than including a series of individual games. That studio is Supergiant Games, the famous indie game developer of Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades. This week, we continue our season by analyzing Pyre 2017.
Pyre was released on June 25, 2017. After Supergiant struggled to create the Transistor, the team adopted a looser “whatever happens” approach to Pyre. The game incorporates various elements that reflect the interests of the whole team such as a high fantasy setting, a large number of intriguing characters, a ritual in the form of a basketball/soccer-like competition and Oregon Trail-inspired discovery. Stay tuned to learn how Supergiant has concocted the game’s central “sports” take, its approach to crafting a larger branching story (including the ever-changing ending credits track). change) and which members of the Nightwings we chose to free and which we abandoned in the Downside.
Join host Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7), John Carson (@John_Carson), along with video game advisor and former Game informant editor Suriel Vazquez (@SurielVazquez) to walk through the history and narrative of Pyre!
