Every season there is always a battle between the major fashion brands to hold the biggest, most notable, most talked about shows in Paris and Milan. This season that award will definitely go to dior and menswear creative director Kim Jones, whose collection is associated with Yves Saint Laurent references.
Entering the Dior show, I felt almost like walking into Fort Knox, the number of screaming and raving fans outside the venue was huge. It looks massive – a huge custom-made dark gray box on the Place de la Concorde, at the entrance to the Tuileries.
In a sense, the process of making this Dior is relatively simple. A cast of actors paraded in front of a giant series of projections of themselves and two storytellers. But the execution was so perfect that it took this show to the next level.

However, the giant Wellington boots with knee-length shorts and loose jacket are all Kim’s, and they all look great. Jones also cut a new soft shoulder jacket with subtle slant seams for added glamor, and a pin-up collared tuxedo that thousands of guys will want to own.
Kim’s biggest trick is getting rid of the side seams, so shirts and blouses appear magical – especially with the awesome cut-out Aran sweater worn with.
According to the company’s statement, Kim designed the show to be “an adventure in motion” through which he “explores the theme of reincarnation, with silhouettes that incorporate the conventions of luxury.” men’s luxury and couture, while pushing the boundaries of time.”
It sounds like a line out false angle In Private Eye, and about the only thing that happens with this phenomenally effective program. Supported by a live orchestraand with a group of boys Arnault and dad Bernard in the front row, it felt like a true fashion moment, giving Kim the biggest cheer of the international menswear season.
