Dinesh Karthik, Mark Waugh get into a banter during live commentary | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The rivalry between India and Australia is famous for its squabbles, skiing and wits but it is not limited to the cricket field as an incident has been witnessed on the air as the pitchers announcer Dinesh Karthik And Mark Waugh got into a joke while first day of First Test in Nagpur.
India was sublimated after beating Australia 177 and 15/0 in the third round as Karthik made a prediction, “I came early to make a prediction, I really feel India will hit once. and only once in this Test match.”
Waugh wasted no time in replying: “We’ll look at that DK, we’ll look into that.”
Karthik remained adamant in his prediction: “Mark my words, Mark.”
Waugh expressed his apprehension as he repeated DK’s comment: “What time is it. It’s three o’clock. I’ll write that down in my diary. He might be right. It won’t be easy, it will. not a walk in the park.”
“But at the same time, it’s not as difficult as the Australian players did,” Karthik said.
Waugh: “All I’m saying is never judge a pitch until the two sides have fought. Let’s see how it goes. It’s a big game, Australia won’t let India go to India. India got out. This test of India didn’t hit as well as some of the Australian matches. I can’t see two men averaging 60.”
Karthik: “Well, there’s only one in India, 60 on average.”
Wau: “Rohit Sharma world-class player, world-class Virat Kohli, Pujara Thor at his side.”
Former Head Coach of India Ravi Shastri also joined the conversation and reminded Waugh of his prediction he made during India’s final tour Down Under. “I remember a prediction he made when we were 36 in Adelaide, Australia when he said ‘India will be beaten 4-0’. Keep on predicting Mark!”
“I’m probably not the only one who predicted that, though. I really can’t remember that prediction. Ravi was just quiet. I don’t remember saying that,” Waugh said.
The first day of the Inaugural Test saw the home team beat their opponents in all parts of the game. Ravindra Jadeja’s five-shot on his return from injury and Ravichandran Ashwin’s three racquets helped India beat Australia 177 in the first round.
In response, India is 77 to 1, with captain Rohit Sharma 56 and Ashwin, yet to score, in the lead. India still follows Australia in 100 runs.
