Diljit Dosanjh’s Take On Classic Shakshuka is fun but delicious


Tomatoes are an integral part of most dishes. But have you ever considered it center stage? In many parts of North Africa and the Middle East, Shakshuka is a popular breakfast. The dish consists of eggs gently boiled in a delicious tomato and bell pepper sauce. Now, actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has transformed himself into the classic Shakshuka recipe. The self-proclaimed foodie often shares his culinary paths with his fans via Instagram. And, we always look forward to them. Diljit shared the recipe of his favorite dish called “Shak Chuka” on his Instagram Stories. And, don’t miss his hilarious commentary behind the video. The clip opens with a scene where the singer is spraying medicine, which appears to be cooking buttermilk sprayed onto a pan, on the stove. Next, he tosses in some diced succulent red tomatoes. For extra flavor and red, he added some masala paprika. Now he covers the pan with a lid. And Voila.

While Diljit Dosanjh’s “Shak Chuka” has us hooked with juicy tomatoes, let’s not miss Shakshuka’s recipe, which features egg goodness.

Element:

  • Olive oil 30 Ml
  • Onions (diced) 80 grams
  • Garlic (minced) 10 grams
  • Ripe tomatoes (diced) 60 grams
  • Tomato paste 8 grams
  • Smoked chili powder 8 grams
  • Dill powder 5g
  • Cayenne pepper powder 10 grams
  • Salt to taste
  • Dried herbs
  • Eggs 6
  • Parsley (chopped) 10 grams

Method:

Step 1: Place a large skillet over medium heat, pour in some olive oil. Once the oil is heated, add the onions and cook until they are golden brown. Next, add the cayenne pepper.

Step 2: Add some minced garlic and dried herbs. Cook for a few more minutes.

Step 3: Add the tomatoes and mash them with a spoon.

Step 4: Stir the sauce well and bring to a boil. Now, turn down the heat and bring to a boil.

Step 5: Add all remaining spices and seasoning. Let it cook over low heat for 15 minutes.

Step 6: Make 4-8 balls in the sauce and beat in the egg. Light seasoning.

Step 7: Turn the heat to the lowest possible, cover the pot and cook for about 10 minutes until the eggs are just set.

Step 8: Open the lid, garnish with parsley and serve on a plate.

The formula doesn’t get better. You can also add some bell peppers to add some more classic flavor and aroma to the dish.
