According to Page SixSean “Diddy” Combs didn’t try to stop Shyne’s movie from dropping. Combs reportedly wanted to “make sure” the documentary got the facts right.
Shyne’s documentary, ‘The Honorable Shyne,’ premiered on Hulu on November 18 and is now streaming. The film delves into Shyne Barrow’s evolution from Grammy-winning rapper to his time serving behind bars. It also highlights his political rise in Belize as Leader of the Opposition, along with his journey of resilience and redemption.

On December 27, 1999, a fight escalated at Club New York in NYC, where Shyne, Diddy, and Jennifer Lopez, Combs’ girlfriend at the time, were all present. Gunfire injured three bystanders, leading to Diddy and Lopez being arrested after police found weapons in their car. Lopez avoided charges and a court acquitted Diddy in 2001. Shyne, then 21, was sentenced to 10 years for assault. However, he spent eight years in prison before authorities deported him to Belize in 2009.
In September, Shyne spoke Diddy was arrested during a press conference in Belize. As TSR previously reported, authorities charged the 55-year-old man with sex trafficking, fraud and transporting individuals for prostitution. Shyne emphasized that he takes no joy in anyone’s failure. However, he credits the founder of Bad Boys Records as the person who essentially “ruined” his life.

Additionally, he also mentioned that he considered receiving resources from Combs to assist Belize, but he remained adamant that he be held responsible for the damage caused to life he.
“I was defending Diddy and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me and he almost put me in jail. So that’s the context in which you should always describe that relationship. Yes, I forgive, I move on, but let’s not pretend like I’m in Miami for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Let’s not forget what cold, hard truths are. This is not the guy I went on vacation with and he and I enjoyed this wonderful, close, brotherly relationship. This is the person who ruined my life.”
