Did the Jets make the mistake of sticking to Joe Flacco?

ESPN’s Rich Cimini report Wednesday that Joe Flacco will remain the Jets quarterback begins, a day after head coach Robert Saleh leave the door open for a change. After a forgettable performance in Week 1, was it the right decision?

Some fans cheered for Mike White, who became a folk hero after a 405-yard performance in a nasty win over the Bengals last season but lost all momentum with match four. interception two weeks later.

Although not every midfielder is the most inspiring choice with Zach Wilson is still working hard to come back From a right knee injury, the numbers are starting to become inescapable for Flacco. Wilson will miss at least two more games.

Flacco, 37, leads 2-15 in his previous 17 appearances and has not won since he wore a Broncos shirt in 2019. He threw 307 yards in Sunday’s loss to Raven, but that comes with with a word of warning: He tried to make 59 passes and was just average. 5.2 yards per attempt, 29th of all starting midfielders in Week 1.

Flacco also made one interception, was fired three times and was pressured all game. Any Jets midfield will be pressured by Raven, but Flacco has little mobility.

White was a mixed bag last season, but there is a case to be made that a rough match against an AFC contender failed to erase any hope he could be a substitute. That’s okay for Wilson. An ultra-high-to-lower midfielder could be more valuable to the Jets than a midfielder who hasn’t won a game in three years and is in the late stages of his career.

For now, Flacco will face the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday. If it’s the same for the Jets, could we see White get another chance at the Bengals in Week 3?
