Via Charles Brun: DAZN may have made a BIG mistake by signing the fading former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, which they may soon regret after he faces Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch next August. .
DAZN signed 32-year-old Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs), making him a brand ambassador, special advisor and shareholder for their company.
Joshua, who has lost two of his last four skirmishes and is headed for a third loss almost certainly, will be on DAZN’s strategic advisory board. DAZN is apparently making a move to increase UK subscribers.
You could argue that British fans easily forgive Joshua’s constant loss and become a shadow of the boxer he used to be an American fan. American fans lost interest in the boxer as they crossed the hill, which Joshua is showing clear signs of.
Look how UK fans have yet to give up on Derek Chisora after 12 defeats. When you look at it from that angle, it makes perfect sense for DAZN to pour large sums of money into signing the fading Joshua. However, it is still troublesome.
When you look at other sports like baseball or the NFL, there have been countless examples of teams signing players with physical problems, and they would be terrible failures.
In Joshua’s case, it’s clear he’s dying. All you have to do is review his résumé to see that he’s on the low end of his career and he’ll probably end up facing Usyk on August 20th. .
If Charles Brun was among those on the DAZN team voting on whether to sign Joshua, he would object. How do you sign a boxer like AJ who is so obviously going into oblivion? It’s senseless.

Hopefully we don’t see a controversial decisive win for Joshua over Usyk as a lot of money is being poured into signing AJ which is fading. If you are Usyk, it would be a good idea if you definitely score by knockout against Joshua on August 20. I mean, Usyk is really against it with this fight.
This fight for Joshua and DAZN is very, very important. It’s a match Joshua can’t afford to lose, so Usyk needs to keep his eyes open to what he’s going into.
It will be interesting to see Joshua’s next move if he loses to Usyk on August 20. Does Joshua drop new coach Robert Garcia and blame him, or does he hang up his gloves?
