Diamond Stone has finally put on a gem of a gig.

Justin Brownlee, however, did better in the evening.

Brownlee and Barangay Ginebra turned an anticipated airfight against the Bay Area into a surprise hit on Sunday — and they were very motivated to produce such an outcome.

“They’re an away team here and they’re a great away team, and we just want to represent our league and play our best,” Brownlee said after scoring 46 points in Gin’s 111-93 win. Kings made the Dragons stop. started undefeated in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup in fourth place.

Ginebra improved to 2-1 in front of a good-sized crowd at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City after the third round, further shattering the Bay Area myth of invincibility that had been built up since since coming to this country in August.

The Bay Area, mentored by the well-decorated Brian Goorjian, claimed nine adjusted games with teams from the PBA, UAAP, NCAA and even one from South Korea ahead of the mid-season conference.

But Ginebra not only gave the Bay Area a modest result, it also won convincingly thanks to a huge third-quarter breakaway.

“I was absolutely amazed with the way we played in that second half,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone, who is eager to battle his wits with his counterpart known for leading Australia to a bronze medal at the World Championships. Tokyo Olympics.

San Miguel Beer’s coach Leo Austria was less than surprised as he was relieved after Stone put on a performance that would make the Beermen less worried about their import situation.

“I feel like I’ve adjusted well,” Stone said after picking up 42 points in San Miguel’s 113-105 win over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters earlier in the day.

Substituted at the last minute after initial import Thomas Robinson suffered a back injury in the lead up to the mid-season conference, Stone struggled on his debut last Wednesday, which saw San Miguel wasted a lead and fell to Blackwater in great sadness.

But Stone gave Austria a reason to worry less after looking for an immediate replacement for Robinson.

“The first match was really difficult for him,” said Austria. “He doesn’t know the team, he doesn’t know the system and he doesn’t know the kind of basketball we have here. But I’m happy for him because he seems to have realized that he has to perform.”

Stone took 17 of the 29 shots during the 43 minutes of the show.

He also had 13 rebounds and 3 assists while dealing physically that ultimately saw Rain or Shine big man Beau Belga sent off at the end of the 4th half with a Flagrant Foul 2. INQ
