Fastfood
Fast food is often high in fat, sugar and salt, which increases the risk of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.
“Lifesum has a lot of healthy alternatives to fast food. For example, plant-based burgers may reduce the risk of diabetes,” says Dr. Pulde.
Animal products and processed meat
Studies strongly support the finding that increased consumption of animal foods, and especially processed meat, increases the risk of diabetes.
“The high fat content and certain preservatives can interfere with the normal functioning of insulin,” says Dr. Pulde.
“This can raise blood sugar and eventually lead to diabetes.”
