NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined Air India Rs 10 lakh for failing to promptly report two unruly passengers on Paris-Delhi flight (AI-142) December 6, 2022.
While one drunken passenger was caught smoking in the restroom and disobeying cabin crew instructions on this flight, another passenger is said to have relieved himself on an empty seat and blanket. of a female passenger as she goes to the restroom.
“The DGCA (has) given a clear notice to the responsible manager of Air India as to why enforcement action should not be taken against them for neglecting their legal obligations. The AI ​​submitted a reply to the announcement on Monday (January 23) and the same was checked. Enforcement action in the form of a financial fine of Rs 10 lakh was imposed on AI for failing to report the case to the DGCA and delaying referring the matter to its internal committee, which violated the DGCA (regulations). rules) in force,” the regulator said in a statement.
Last week, the DGCA took three actions against AI in the alleged case of an intoxicated passenger in business class of flight aa New York-Delhi on November 26, 2022, who urinated on a female passenger.
DGCA has imposed a financial penalty of Rs 30 lakh on AI; another penalty of Rs 3 lakh to AI flight control service for this case and suspension of this flight commander’s license for three months.
