Devin Haney thinks that George Kambosos Jr. is “hugging” him
Via Sean Jones: Devin Haney took to Twitter on Sunday to reveal Australian George Kambosos Jr. is “”Acrobatic “ he and he thought he didn’t want an undisputed clash.
Haney sounds like he’s in the end of his rope, after agreeing to travel and vaccine requirements to fight Aussi Kambosos in his native Australia for a stadium match.
If Haney, 23, is just tied up like a puppet controlled by Kambosos from above, he needs to cut the ropes that bind him, quit the game, and move on.
Haney promoter Eddie Hearn needed to find someone else to fight with as he couldn’t waste months on Kambosos without genuine interest on his part.
Good picks for Haney’s next fight:
- Ryan Garcia
- Michel Rivera
- Vasily Lomachenko
- Richard Commey
- Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz
- Jorge Linares
If WBC lightweight champion Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) is right about his belief that Kambosos Jr. If you don’t want the war, it’s not surprising.
This is Kambosos’ famous 15 minutes, and there’s a good chance he loses.”nice belt” his first bout as the undisputed 135 lb champion, which is why he could be dragging his feet.
Haney said @SInow that he had received a two-dose COVID regiment shot and planned to receive a second dose, a requirement to fight in Australia. https://t.co/KKxp5ilFi6

Knowing that Kambosos would be knocked down by the highly skilled Haney, it’s possible that he was just doing a fighting move along with him.
It was a great opportunity for the Kambosos to gain some influence without having to fight Haney and risk losing the loot for the big money.
Kambosos didn’t have a chance to claim his title in two or three easy games before booking a big-money matchup against Haney.
It could be that Kambosos is interested in snagging two or three easy salaries against the underdogs at lightweight before he sets up a bidding war between Haney, Ryan Garcia, Vasily Lomachenko and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
If Kambosos doesn’t fight Haney, he can always face the highest bidder for his four “beautiful belts”. Kambosos’ best chance for the most money possible is fighting one of the three kings:
- Ryan Garcia
- Gervonta Davis
- Vasily Lomachenko
Kambosos might have been better off squeezing his title to get three or four easy matches against the easiest to beat contenders in the top 15.
Those fighting for Kambosos for his title:
- Maxi Hughes
- Lee Selby
- Guillaume Frenois
However, Haney will need to be careful as he has been looking thin recently injured in the last two games. If he can’t fight hard without getting injured, he won’t hold the WBC lightweight championship for long.
