It’s almost time to assemble the team and queue up to play Concord*. Along with the launch, we’re also excited to share with you all the accessibility services that will be available. Creating a game that can bring something to as many people as possible is not only important to the team, but has been at the forefront of our minds throughout development. While we’ve created a lot of in-game services, like maps, modes, Freegunners, cosmetics, gameplay styles, lore, etc., we also take the importance of making these experiences accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why we’ve made sure to include a range of services from text size to border thickness.
Here are the current accessibility services people can use on PS5 and PC, both digital downloads and discs.
Off Menu
Ping System
Our ping system will allow you to pinpoint areas on the map to alert your teammates. Pinging will also create an icon in the world, vibrate in the direction of the ping’s location, and play your character’s voice.
Playable training experience
We’ve created a training experience that teaches you the basics and core mechanics of Concord. We’ve also made it repeatable, so it can be reviewed and replayed so you can refresh the basics at any time.
How to play
We have created an in-game menu that gives you detailed information about every aspect of the game.
Character optimization
We designed some characters with abilities and weapons that are suitable for players who may have mobility barriers.
- Lark:Lark’s gameplay focuses on moving around the map and placing spores to create an open area that buffs allies and weakens enemies, rather than engaging in direct combat.
Additionally, Lark’s weapon does not rely on accuracy or require direct sighting of the enemy to be effective. It fires a projectile that hovers in the air, then explodes into homing rounds as the target gets closer.
- Jabali language: Jabali’s weapons and both of his abilities have a strong homing component, which can reduce the accuracy required to hit a target. His Life Pulse orb also stays in the world after he throws it, so even if you miss, your allies can still retrieve it.
- Daw and Kyps: Both Freegunners have kits that can focus on placing support elements around the map, allowing you to support your team without engaging in direct combat. They also have explosive weapons, which can reduce the amount of precision aiming required when firing.
General Menu Navigation
Modified settings
- Whenever you change one of the settings, that change will be highlighted on each screen.
- Each tab can be filtered to show only modified settings.
- Each setting will include a default value and can be reset to default individually or as a whole tab.
Control
Overview
- Invert vertical/horizontal axis: Allows to reverse the search bar.
- For PC only: Reverse mouse.
Sensitivity
- Double-tap sensitivity: Allows you to adjust the time required between rapid button presses required for an action to count as a “double tap”. For example, in Concord, the default action to perform a dodge uses a double tap so you can adjust the time required between each press. This can also be set separately on PC for keyboards vs. controllers.
- Set stick sensitivity: Allows you to adjust the sensitivity when using the Look Stick on your controller. You can adjust the vertical and horizontal sensitivity separately for Look and Look Down Sights
- For PC only: Mouse sensitivity can be adjusted separately for Look and Look Down mode
Input
- Controller link preset: Choose from a number of control schemes for both joystick and button layouts. This feature is only available when using a controller. There are also presets for motor reachability that aim to minimize holding and include default constraints for automatic camera panning and recalibration.
- Customize full input link: Allows you to rebind the input button and the required action (i.e. tap, double tap, toggle, hold). Available for both controllers, as a custom preset, and for keyboards
Accessibility-specific link options
- Enable/Disable Auto Move feature: Automatically moves character forward (also works with sprint). Using the move bar will automatically exit.
- Camera realignment: Bring the camera back to the center of the screen, facing forward.
How to play
Overview
- Camera shake: Enable or disable camera vibration while playing games.
- Bob’s Weapon Power: Adjusts the amount of weapon movement when running or sprinting.
- Minimap orientation: Allows you to choose between rotating the map around the player, with the player icon always facing up, OR Keep the map static and move the player icons.
- Player and object border thickness: Change the thickness of the team color border around players and objects.
Vibrate
- Adaptive Trigger Resistance (DualSense Only): Enable or disable trigger protection for the DualSense controller.
- Turn it off ALL vibration controller
- Cinematic dialog with vibration: Will represent all spoken dialogue during cutscenes with controller vibration (DualSense only).
- Ability to adjust the intensity of the vibration groups
Sub-vibration groups
The following vibration groups will be available:
Weapons and Abilities
- Weapons: Actions of firing, reloading, readying, storing and melee.
- Additional feedback on weapons: Additional feedback related to weapons, such as Haymar’s weapon charging, 1-0FF’s Industrial Vacuum filling up, Bazz hitting an enemy with a knife, etc.
- Ability: Vibrations are involved in activating character abilities, such as throwing grenades, placing deployable items, etc.
Player status
- Upcoming negative impacts: Damage, nearby explosions, and negative status effects (such as Fire caused by Haymar’s Wall of Fire.)
- Upcoming positive impacts: Healing, shielding, and power abilities, like Stealth or Increased Mobility.
- Health Warning: A constant vibration emitted when you are not in good health.
- Sprinting steps: Vibrates with character’s footsteps when sprinting.
General games
- Pickup truck: Vibrations are emitted when automatically picking up various in-game objects such as the player’s Bonus Card in Trophy Hunt, ability charges, and Blue Buddy.
- Interactive prompt: Vibrate when using in-game prompts: when you start an interaction, interaction is in progress, interaction stops, interaction is complete.
Spatial awareness
- Position of power in the world: Vibrates when you enter an area related to an in-game object like Daw’s dome or heel pad, or if an object is placed near you.
- Nearby interactions: Vibration is emitted when there is an interactive prompt nearby to use.
- Ping and calling out tactile responses: The vibrations take place in the world where the ally is sending the signal.
UI Vibration
- Menu Navigation: Vibrations are emitted when you select and confirm menu items.
- Select character: Vibration alerts you when it’s your turn to choose a character or when you’re running out of time to choose.
- Galaxy Guide: Vibrations related to Galactic Guidance.
Update match status
- Regional States: The vibration is related to the target zone. For example, when you enter or leave the zone, the zone will be transferred to the opposing team’s control, etc.
- Global mode status: Vibrations related to global in-game status, such as an area being unlocked, extra time, etc.
Interface
- Caption: Can be turned on or off. Subtitles also include the speaker’s name.
- Select language in game
- HUD Ratio: Adjusts the scale of the in-game head-up display (HUD). Does not affect aiming point.
- For PC only: UI Aspect Ratio – sets the aspect ratio of the in-game UI.
- Use minimum font size and minimum text size values: forces text to have a selected minimum text size. This includes subtitles and speech-to-text. The text size range is 18 to 40pt.
- High contrast text: Enabling this feature will add a contrasting colored border to all text.
- Use alternative fonts: Swap in-game text between default and alternative fonts for desired clarity.
- Color options: Choose your own colors to assign to various in-game images, including
- Hostile colors, friendly colors and neutral colors
- Positive vs. negative options (e.g. full health vs. low health, valid position vs. invalid position),
- Warnings for your players
- HUD Elements
- Reticle Color
- Factors that can cause a white flash on the screen by default
- Blind status effect from Haymar’s ability
- Full screen hit effect happens when you melee someone
Sound settings
- Individual volume controls for all audio, including music volume, sound effects volume, and dialogue volume.
- Voice to text for voice chat: Enables voice-to-text narration for in-game voice chat. This feature appears just below the on-screen captions.
- For PC only: Audio output device allows you to select the output device.
- For PC only: Audio performance allows you to balance audio latency with resource usage.
Graphics
- Brightness: Adjust the brightness level to your liking.
- Motion blur: Enable or disable motion blur effects in the world and when moving.
- For PC only: Resolution, VSync and FPS Limit, Field of View (FOV) Ratio.
Post-Launch Support
This is just the start of our accessibility options for Concord. We are continuing to work on other settings that will be announced at a future date and will be sure to provide you with updates as we are able.
While we are excited to be able to offer these services from day one, we are committed to continually refining and improving accessibility at Concord after launch.
