Derby, Oaks Workouts Open to the Public
From Saturday, April 23 to Wednesday, May 4, Churchill Downs will be open for free daily from 7-10 a.m. so visitors can see the nation’s top 3-year-old Purebred dogs training for this year’s Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. Churchill Downs Main Street Training Horses daily from 5:15-10am Starting Saturday there will be an exclusive training window for Derby and Oaks participants only from 7:30-7 :45am after renovation 7-7:30am. break. Those horses will be identified by a special saddle towel that includes their name: a golden saddle for the Derby and a pink saddle for the Oaks candidates. Churchill Downs can be accessed via the Paddock Gate and free parking is recommended at nearby White Lot for easy access. Guests will be directed to Section 115-117 for morning exercises. Kentucky Derby Morning Works presented by TwinSpires.com will begin Monday and air on www.kentuckyderby.com/works, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Fans in attendance will be able to watch programming on the track’s Big Board and on-field TV. The first two days of Kentucky Derby and Oaks training (Saturday and Sunday) will also be streamed live on the Kentucky Derby social media channels, but there is no comment.
