At the time, Shaughna updated her 1.5 million Instagram followers about her experience and urged women to book their dirty tests.
She posted a photo of the hospital ward and captioned it: ‘Happy day? So I said I would share my experience with all of you and I’m wearing my pants right now.
‘Still screaming for their smeared booking ladies!’
Colposcopy to check for abnormal cells in the cervix.
She then checked in with fans when she got home: ‘How was the colposcopy? Chills and feeling sorry for yourself for the rest of the day.
‘Even though I had 3 nurses who were lovely and made me feel cared for. Still screaming for the ladies to book a smear appointment for you if you’re overdue. ‘
‘Yesterday I received my results and there were changes to some cells called ‘boundary changes’ that required further testing. I also tested positive for HPV,’ she said previously
HPV stands for Human papillomavirus, which the NHS describes as ‘a very common group of viruses.’ Although HPV doesn’t cause any problems in most people, some types can cause genital warts or cancer.
There is no blood test for HPV and it is detected during a cervical examination.
‘Yesterday I received my results and there were changes to some cells called ‘boundary changes’ that required further testing. I also tested positive for the HPV virus,’ she previously told her followers.
She continued: ‘Of course I was absolutely terrified at first, and despite everyone I’ve talked to reassured me how common this is, it’s still very scary.’
Shaughna went on to say she was ‘delighted’ to share her smear test results because she was ‘appalled’.
