Delhi International Airport is 5G Ready: What This Means for Travelers


GMR team runs Delhi Airport announced that the country’s largest airport is now in compliance 5G network. This means that passengers can take advantage of 5G connectivity as these services are rolled out by Telecommunications service provider (TSP). Most airports now provide wireless service mainly through WIFI for passengers. Spectrum-based Wi-Fi is unlicensed, free for anyone to use.
In a statement, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said that with the 5G network, passengers will be able to enjoy data speeds 20 times faster than available Wi-Fi systems. Such a network would allow passengers to download faster, without buffering during streaming, and seamlessly execute resource-intensive applications.
Passengers with a 5G-enabled mobile phone kit and a SIM card can experience better signal strength, seamless connectivity, and faster data speeds at domestic departure docks and international arrivals baggage areas. at Terminal 3, and between T3 destinations and the multi-storey car park (MLCP), DIAL stated.
According to GMR, the rollout on T3 will be done in phases. Some TSPs have already allowed their networks to support 5G services for their customers, and expect other service providers to connect in the coming weeks.
