“Deepika Is Amar, I’m Akbar, John Is Anthony”: SRK’s Message On Unity

Shah Rukh Khan likened himself and his Pathaan co-stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham to “Amar Akbar Anthony,” characters from Manmohan Desai’s 1977 hit, emphasizing a message of solidarity.

“This is Deepika Padukone, she is Amar; I am Shah Rukh Khan, Akbar; this is John Abraham, he is Anthony. And this is what makes cinema. Amar Akbar and Anthony. There is no difference between the two. us and anyone. Any culture, any aspect of life. We love you and that’s why we make movies. We love you to give us love. Give us love, we yearn for love,” Shah Rukh Khan said at a live session on Monday, during which Team Pathaan spoke to the media about the huge success of their film.

The actors just play the characters and don’t try to hurt anyone’s feelings, the superstar said, adding that the aim of the cinema is to “spread happiness, brotherhood, love” and kindness”.

“Honestly, when we make movies, whether in North, South, East, West, our aim is to spread happiness, brotherhood, love, kindness… Even if I played the bad guy in ‘Darr’ or the bad John in this movie… We just played the characters. These are not meant to hurt any feelings. It’s just entertainment,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, now showing on Friday, continues to dominate the box office. The action thriller has earned more than Rs 500 crore worldwide. It opened in over 100 countries across 8,000 screens – the highest of any Hindi film.

“We have to keep our culture, our old stories, all that has permeated this country, the beautiful country that is India. We have to tell the stories in ways modern, in different ways. And when we tell them in different ways, there’s no way we’re mocking anyone. We’re just trying to speak the language of changed young people. change,” the superstar explained.

The song Besharam Rang caused some controversy because of Deepika’s costume and there were protests prior to the film’s release.

The 57-year-old star calls fans his safe place and talks about how welcoming them from the balcony has been energizing for him. Shah Rukh said his fans love him whether his movies are a hit or not.

“I was told that when things go wrong, go to the people who love you. I’m very lucky to have millions of people who love me.
