Deebo Samuel criticizes Rams over controversial ticketing policy

The Los Angeles Rams perform unusual ticket restrictions in an attempt to keep San Francisco 49ers fans out of the SoFi stadium next weekend and Deebo Samuel isn’t happy about that.

Samuel, who has enjoyed a groundbreaking third NFL season, criticized the Rams over the ticket policy in a tweet on Monday. He said he understands the Rams don’t want 49ers fans to take over their stadium but doesn’t think it’s right to limit sales.

The Rams only allowed fans living in the greater Los Angeles area (based on billing address) to purchase tickets to the NFC Championship Games when they first went on sale. Apparently, the purpose was to make it difficult for Niners fans in San Francisco and elsewhere to buy tickets.

It looks like 49ers fans can now buy tickets for free, just not face value. As of Monday morning, Ticketmaster’s website no longer posts a notice that says “Public sale of the game at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA will be restricted to residents of the Greater Los Angeles area.” A Rams spokesperson told Eric Ting of SFGate.com that policy has been lifted after all tickets were sold in the weekend pre-sale. Only verified resale tickets are currently available and the policy doesn’t seem to apply to those tickets.

There are many Niners fans living in the Los Angeles area. Many people will also be buying tickets through Ticketmaster’s resale program and other secondary markets, so we still expect to see a lot of burgundy and gold at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. The San Francisco players encouraged it.
