Deciding between Tata Nexon AMT and Kia Sonet DCT: Ask Autocar Anything
The Nexon has an AMT transmission while the Sonet has a DCT transmission, and both have very different characteristics.

I wanted to buy a small SUV with automatic transmission and chose Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. However, while the Sonet has a DCT transmission it does not yet have a safety rating, and the Nexon has a 5-star GNCAP rating but only gets an AMT automatic transmission. Would an AMT be as good an automatic transmission as a DCT for highway passing and downhill driving?

Autocar India says: The Sonet isn’t as spacious as the Nexon (especially in the rear), so if you’re traveling with five passengers often, the Tata is the way to go. But the Kia is better in every way – it feels more premium on the inside with high-quality bits, better transmission, and a nicer DCT than Tata’s AMT in terms of performance and smoothness. Sure, Nexon has a better crash rating, but that doesn’t make Sonet unsafe. It is equipped with an ESP system and six airbags, which meet all safety regulations. Out of the two, Kia Sonet is the one worth buying the most.
