Via Jim Calfa: Golden Boy Promotion CEO Oscar De La Hoya says he’ll be ready to take on a fight between Ryan Garcia and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis as he tackles rival Emmanuel Tagoe on April 9th.

Needless to say, Ryan (21-0, 18 KOs) will need to beat Tagoe (32-1, 15 KOs) and is good for De La Hoya to consider in order for him to advance to the fight with Real Tank. beat Davis.
Ryan hasn’t fought in 15 months, so he’ll need to look stellar compared to 33-year-old Tagoe for De La Hoya to give him the green light to join the Tank.
To have a chance against former 3rd world champion undefeated Tank Davis, Ryan will need to kill Tagoe as he can’t compete with an opponent of this class.
Ryan didn’t look stellar in his final matchup against Luke Campbell in January 2021. Campbell knocked Ryan out strong in the second round and could have done more damage if he had more power. .
“I just saw that he was calm and peaceful. I think that’s the most important thing I see from him,” Oscar De La Hoya told Against TV Hub about Ryan Garcia.
De La Hoya said: “Just seeing him peaceful and happy is everything.
“I always thought Mayweather was going to do a great fight with him and Al Haymon,” Oscar said in reaction to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis when he said he would complete the final fight of his contract with Mayweather Promotions on Jan. May 28 before Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.
“Yes, Iif they’re serious about making this fight. Al Haymon or whoever is in charge [of Tank Davis] Give me a promoter to promoter call, we can make this fight,” De La Hoya said of the fight between Ryan Garcia and Tank Davis.
“We want it, but first things first. April 9, but look, Ryan wants a big fight. I think if everything goes well on April 9, I will be watching very carefully, obviously myself as a professional.
“There’s no reason we shouldn’t let that fight happen soon,” De La Hoya said of the fight between Ryan Garcia and the Davis Tank.
Whoever becomes the new promoter of Tank, they will likely be willing to compare him to Ryan Garcia. It could be a problem, though, if Tank signs up with the Top Rated, as that means he’ll be fighting on ESPN.
With Ryan competing on DAZN, things will be complicated the same way we saw recently with failed negotiations for a fight between Jaime Munguia and Jermall Charlo.
