West Ham United joint chairman David Gold has died aged 86.
Mr Gold died after a brief illness, the Premier League club said in a statement.
West Ham joint chairman David Sullivan said: “On behalf of everyone at the football club, with deep sadness and heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend. our friend, David Gold.
“Of all our ventures, none have made us prouder and happier than the day we owned West Ham United, our club, in January 2010.
“David has a long association with the Hammers, grew up opposite the Boleyn Ground on Green Street and represents the club at grassroots level.
“He always wanted what was best for West Ham United, and his departure is a great loss for all of us.”
