Via Ken Hissner: At Auditorio Municipal, Torreon, MEX, on ESPN+ Friday, during the Main Event Junior Bantamweight David “El General” Cuellar scored his seventh straight kill and stopped Yader “Chocolate” Cardoza in five rounds.
In the rematch, WBC World Women’s Bantamweight Champion Yuliahn Luna reversed an early loss in 2014 to easily beat Jessica “La Magnifica” Gonzalez by more than ten rounds.
In the main event, Junior Bantamweight David “El General” Cuellar, 22-0 (15), of Queretaro, MEX, stopped Yader “Chocolate” Cardoza, 26-18-1 (8), of Managua, NIC, in fifth round of ten scheduled rounds.
In the first round, the taller Cuellar has the upper hand. In the final thirty seconds, a right from Cuellar nearly sent Blandon over the rope when the referee called it a slip. Blandon was back in the final ten seconds, rocking Cuellar with a punch that got him into trouble by ringing the bell.
In the second round, what looked like a Cuellar knock was ruled to miss. In the third round, Cardoza lost a point after heading. Due to head impact, Cuellar was slashed in the left eyebrow. In the fourth round, Cuellar suffered another cut, this cut on Cuellar’s right eyebrow.
In the fifth inning, a solid punch entered Cardoza’s body from Cuellar and he got on his knees counting.
In a rematch, WBC World Bantamweight Champion Yuliahn “La Cobrita” Luna, 24-3-1 (4), of Gomez, Palacio, Durango, MEX, avenged a previous loss to hit defeated Jessica La Magnifica” Gonzalez, 8 -6-2 (1), of Mexico City, Distrito Federation, MEX, on 10 × 2 laps.
In 2014, Gonzalez defeated Luna, and this is the rematch that the current world champion has been waiting for. In the first round, Luna had the advantage as she got the best Gonzalez, and then passed. In the second half, Gonzalez continued to advance while Luna counter-attacked well, especially the right to head to head. At the end of the round, Gonzalez had a lot of swelling under his right eye.
In the first seconds of the third inning, Gonzalez landed left above, knocking off Luna’s head. For the rest of the round, Luna was in control. In the fourth round, Gonzalez continued to push forward and when countered, often fell into a deadlock position.

In the ninth round, Luna continued to be one step ahead of Gonzalez in terms of physical speed. In the tenth and final round, a fight with too much leverage, and Luna won each round, with Gonzalez having bruises under both eyes and a cut on his nose at the end.
Bantamweightweight Luis “Peluchin” Araujo, 11-0-2 (8), of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, MEX, scored a pair of kills, stopping Francisco “Junior Zurdito” Rivas, 8-9 (5), of Castanos , Coahuila de Zaragoza, MEX, in the third of eight scheduled rounds.
In the first round, it was all Araujo, whose body attack didn’t stop supporting Rivas, who on a number of landings left blows on Araujo’s chin. In the second round, Araujo exploded with a final left hook midway through and knocked Rivas down with an 8 in the final minute of the round. Rivas suffered a cut on his left eyebrow and the bridge of his nose.
In the third round, Araujo continued to assault Rivas, dropping him one last time as the referee dismissed him.
Featherweight champion Jose Trujillo 15-6-2, blocked by Jorge Mata, 13-0-2 (9), at 1:22 of the fourth round.
