Coach Tom Dascombe, who will be leaving Michael Owen’s Manor House Stables after Owens announced his split last December, will move to the Uplands in Lambourn starting April. His last runner out of the Manor House Stables will be Misty Gray (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), who is running at Wolverhampton in Listed Lady Wulfruna S. on March 12.
“Misty Gray will be my last runner from Manor House and I will be returning to Lambourn from April 1 after signing a deal at the Uplands,” said Dascombe, who trained G1 Ireland’s Brown Panther hero last year. 2014 (GB) (Shirocco { Ger}) for Owens. “I am 100% better than I was yesterday. It is extremely difficult to find somewhere, to look everywhere, to find the yard. I have to be honest, not just in this country.
“But I’ve always had thoughts of going back to Lambourn and I’m really nervous for Jockey Club Estates, as I couldn’t find a pitch in Lambourn.
“But I was patient and it coincided with my last run from the field and I really don’t want to say anything until now. I’m so glad that on the last day of work, I really have something to say. That is a positive thing.
“I have to thank my new hosts at Uplands, Amber Varcoe and Dominic Hoult, for their support and the shared desire to see this amazing pitch amongst the winners and I am very much looking forward to a new chapter. in his career.
“But I did enjoy 12 years at Manor House Stables. We’ve shared Classic success and so many winners, and it’s great to think that Misty Gray can end this chapter of my career on a high.
“I am extremely grateful to Michael Owen and Andrew Black [the ex-footballer’s business partner] for giving me the opportunity to effectively grow the stable from scratch into a thriving operation and we are proud of what we have achieved.
“We shared indelible memories and I will forever be proud of training Michael’s Purebred Brown Panther to win Classic and Royal Ascot. We shared some great times and now I look forward to a few more times at the Uplands. ”
Dascombe added, “It was quite a shock at the time, but Michael and Andrew Black wanted to go in a different direction and that was their prerogative. I will always be truly grateful for the opportunity and the good times we shared.
“I am delighted to be starting Lambourn again. How many horses will we have? The simple answer is I don’t know.
“I wanted to sign a contract with a yard with 106 cages, but ended up signing with a yard with 20 cages. The first day, I’ll just have an empty barn. The second day, I wanted more of it. But, I’m glad I’m back in Lambourn and looking to the future. ”
