Via Sam Volz: Daniel Dubois says he wants to match Oleksandr Usyk next summer in the UK and he believes he can “knock him out 100%” for his mandatory WBA title shot.
Negotiations between unified heavyweight champion Usyk and Dubois will begin later this week. 25-year-old WBA regular heavyweight champion Dubois did not give an update on the condition of his injured right leg, which he injured in his final bout against former cruiser Kevin Lerena on December last year.
‘Dynamite’ Dubois will need a medical to get the match going, as he won’t limp into the match thinking he’s going to win like he did with Lerena.
Dubois could have lost that match after being knocked out three times by Lerena in the first round. Why the referee didn’t stop the game was an important question because it was clear that Dubois was injured, and after every hit, Lerena fell and hit him in the opening half.
Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) is fighting against IBF, WBA & WBO unified champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) after Tyson Fury failed in negotiations.
Dubois predicts the type of Usyk
Why not go for a big one now? I will do it 100% and I believe I can take him down,” Daniel Dubois told Boxing about he wants the next IBF, WBA & WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. “I bring a lot of things that he hasn’t fought before.
“Just speed, faith, youth and strength. He has never faced a boxer like me or been hit by a boxer like me. I think I can knock him out and bring them back the belt [to England],” Dubois said.
“This is how it goes in boxing!”

“100%, now is the time to start. I am coming back, and I will come back stronger than before. So why not go for the big one now,” Dubois said.
“This is all the belt and all the glory that comes with it. Yes, there was talk, and I was next in line. I have a regular belt, so there’s always a backup mentality for me.
“I always thought I could get the call. I feel sure for the summer. I want it to be a summer fight. Yeah, sure,” Dubois said when asked if he’d like the match against Usyk in England.
Dubois’ career could end after this fight if Usyk ruined him worse than Joe Joyce did.
