* June 14, 2020 – Nine Network publishes allegations Labor power broker Adem Somyurek delivered cash and used congressional staff to create fake branch members and exert political influence. The practice, known as branch stacking, is not illegal but is against Labor Party rules
* June 15, 2020 – Mr Somyurek was sacked from the cabinet by Prime Minister Daniel Andrews and resigned from the Labor Party before it was kicked off. Factional ally Robin Scott resigns as veterans minister and assistant treasurer
* June 16, 2020 – Former prime minister Steve Bracks and former federal minister Jenny Macklin become administrators of the Victoria branch, with voting rights for rank and file members suspended until 2023. Kororoit MP Marlene Kairouz , another factional ally of Somyurek, resigns from cabinet
* June 17, 2020 – IBAC confirms they are investigating branch stacking allegations
* November 25, 2020 – Around 1700 Victorian Labor members deported after being identified as “non-genuine” in the Bracks/Macklin test
* January 31, 2021 – Mr Bracks and Ms Macklin ended as Victoria branch administrators. The party of the state remains under federal control
* February 2, 2021 – Ms. Kairouz confirms she has been charged by Labor with branching out
* October 11, 2021 – Public hearings begin for Operation Watts, the joint IBAC and Ombudsman investigation. State MP Luke Donnellan resigns from cabinet after federal MP Anthony Byrne told the inquest that the pair paid other people’s Labor memberships
* October 12, 2021 – Mr Byrne told the inquest that the prime minister’s Socialist Left was also divided into several branches. Mr Andrews denies any wrongdoing
* October 13, 2021 – A former employee of Mr. Somyurek says his office embezzled $14,000 and paid his father for cleaning services he did not provide.
* October 18, 2021 – The investigation says Legislative Council Chairman Nazih Elasmar paid for someone else’s membership in the Darebin branch of the Labor Party
* October 19, 2021 – Ms. Kairouz failed her Supreme Court bid to claim that the branch stacking charges against her were invalid
* November 9, 2021 – The inquest learned that the father of St Albans MP Natalie Suleyman was employed in Mr Byrne’s office for partisan reasons. Mr. Somyurek said the branch stacking was “ingrained” inside
* November 11, 2021 – Mr. Somyurek denies forging signatures on membership forms for his moderates’ branch stacking operation
* November 12, 2021 – Mr Somyurek said it was “free” to admit branch stacking while denying embezzlement of public funds on his last day of evidence
* December 10, 2021 – Mr Somyurek used parliamentary prerogative to accuse Mr Andrews of branch stacking
* December 13, 2021 – Labor national chief executive dismissed Mr Donnellan, Ms Kairouz and Mr Scott
* March 3, 2022 – Mr Bryne has vowed not to regain his Holt seat at the 2022 federal election
* April 28, 2022 – Extract of the leaked Watts Campaign draft report to the media
* July 20, 2022 – Special report on Campaign Watts presented in Victorian parliament. It found “serious” behavior within the party but could not recommend criminal prosecution.
