On this day, most will drink a can of Campbell’s Chicken Pho in front of Dan Campbell on the sidelines of the Detroit Lions. At the very least, the soup will provide something – nutritious. When it matters most on Sundays on the road in Minneapolis, Campbell leaves many people wondering what and how they just witnessed.
Without question, Campbell made the Lions (1-2) lose a game.

The Lions scored the first 14 points of the game, only to lose 28-24 to the Minnesota Vikings at the end of the game. Christmas came early for the Vikings. Campbell wrapped the gift and added a bow.
The lions took the lead 24-21 end of the fourth half and got the ball. The Vikings burned through their waiting time.

The Lions had converted four-out-of-five fourth-down conversion attempts at that point. Instead of going to the well once again on a fourth-and-four play at the Vikings’ 37-yard line, Campbell proved he wasn’t ready for primetime.

It could have been the first road win in the Campbell era.
For the record, the Lions haven’t had a lot of success in this thing called football. Probably the most incredible stat in American sports history is that the Lions have won just one playoff game since 1957. And that came in 1991.
Since then, the franchise has been drowning in a sea of losses. Worse, they have continued to hire the wrong coach to lead this sad-sack organization.
Coming into this season, most thought Campbell was different. They liked his upbeat and glib personality. He sounds like a football coach. He’s eccentric, optimistic and emotional about the game.
Great, if you’re making a movie or TV show.
That’s why many former tight ending lovers who actually play with lions from 2006-2008.
His presence and performance on HBO’s Hard Knocks died for. It’s so good that many Lions fans forget that their team started 0-10-1 under Campbell and won just three games last season.
However, the Lions fans have convinced themselves that he will turn the tables and the Lions will shock everyone this season. Only the Lord’s Prayer has been said more times than a fan of the Lion said, “This will be our year.”
It’s sad and pathetic.
Just because that talk was never really based on anything other than vain hope. Very few football brands will actually crazy because a coach won three games. Most of those people were released, not given a parade.
Talking is cheap. Professional sports have a short menu: win and lose.
The Lions have a chance to win two games in a row after an impressive start to Vikings. The lions took the lead, 14-0. But then Sunday happened. Instead of a new chapter, the Lions became the laughing stock.
They haven’t won a road game since 2020. It’s supposed to be one. If they had a good coach, not a talkative or boastful one but a coach, they would have easily won. No one in Detroit should mind this mess served by Campbell. It is not good.
