Dakshin At Sheraton, Delhi is a paradise for those who love South Indian food
South Indian is a food that we can eat in every meal. From bold curries to savory Biryanis, comforting stews to nourishing Parottas – there’s so much diversity that cuisine has to offer. If you are a South Indian food lover and you are looking for new places to try in Delhi, we have found a gem for you. Dakshin is a restaurant in Sheraton Hotel, New Delhi that offers the best food from all the different states in the southern peninsula.
We start our meal with the classic Vadai, a crispy lentil dumpling makes the ideal appetizer. Other foods on our list include Meen Varuval which is a type of seasonal fish sautéed with chili lime sauce. The Kodi Gajaala is another way of preparing spicy chicken with onions and green peppers. If you like lamb preparations, we highly recommend it Aatukari – Crispy fried egg braised lamb chops!
For the main course, there were options from all four states in South India. By Karnataka Thengenkai Kori was the first on our list – flavorful chicken curry with coconut, yoghurt and spices. Next, we tried Chanagapappu Mamsam Koora from Andhra, basically a gram of Bengali and lamb curry with tomatoes and peppers. Andhra specialties Kodi Biryani Also already on our list! Hailed from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry is the shrimp curry named Natahkodayoor Yera Kozhambu. We also sampled Kozhii Ishtoo, Kerala slow cooker chicken curry with coconut milk and spices. The bread portion has Appam, Kal Dosai and Vectorsu Parantha which we have paired with these hearty curries.
Our meal ended sweetly with Elaneer Payasam grated coconut filling in cardamom flavored coconut milk. So come to Dakshin and enjoy some authentic flavors from the South!
