Cupid Colt Tops Louisiana Sale


Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association Sales to Breeders of Louisiana held the 2022 Sale, followed by a Mixed Session, Saturday, October 1 at the Opelousas Horse Sales Facility.

138 crosses were cataloged with 18 outbreds. 101 crested birds sold for a total of $1,690,600, and the median was $16,739 and the median was $10,000. There are 19 RNAs. Three weaners sold for a total of $20,000 and an average of $6,667. A race-age horse sells for $7,000. Nine chicks were sold for a total value of $67,800 and an average of $7,530.

The total for the overall sale is $1,785,400.

Hip No. 60, in the Brehon Ranch shipment topped the sale, lowers the hammer at $63,000. The foal, of Cupid, one of the top second-planted mares in North America, surpassed Bronze Abe, a mare that won multiple shares creating the Two Punch mare, and was taken by Mintmere buying.

Hip number 23, in shipment Clear Creek Stud, was purchased by Valene Farms for $62,000, the second highest price of the day. Dark Bay aka the brown pony belongs to the last stallion Half Ours, a stallion that four times led the Louisiana stallion out of the high-stakes Louisiana stallion Sunshine Smitty’s Sunshine, and he full em of multi-stake winner Smitty’s Cougar.
