Cozey Ciello XL Couch: Fine—If you have the space for it
I had quite a few giant boxes arrived at my door. That’s the nature of my job. But despite checking the dimensions and despite trying to prepare myself, nothing could have prepared me for the delivery of the Cozey Ciello XL Chair.
This sofa is huge. Dimensions vary depending on configuration (more on that later), but mine measured 148 x 68.5 x 26.8 inches—and that’s without the optional storage pad. Each section of the couch has its own box and mine has so many sections that I can lie completely on top of the box.
A large piece of furniture like this is bound to have some quirks, but overall, the Cozey Ciello XL is perfectly fine – as long as that’s what you’re looking for in the first place.
Modern and modular
One of the biggest draws of this couch is its customization ability. It is available in three performance fabric colors and two chenille colors. I tested the Gray performance fabric sofa for less than two months. You can order a free sample book to find out what fabric you want.
I recommend asking a partner or a friend to help you arrange the sofa. Once you get started, the bench is really easy to assemble—even easier than some smaller chairs. set up the couch in the box which I have tried. The shell and hardware are placed inside the hollow seat, backrest or armrest. We arranged our sofa and assembled it piece by piece, then put the pieces together. It can be a little tricky to line up the shelves perfectly when it comes to getting everything in place, but take your time and you’ll be fine. Just be prepared to smash a LOT of cardboard afterward.
Fabric performance is good. It feels a bit scratchy but is easy to clean and the removable cushion means you can wash your couch in the washing machine. The couch didn’t have an unpleasant smell and was quite comfortable right from the jump. Which brings me to my next point—exactly how comfortable is it?
Okay-est Nap of my life
I’m a clumsy babysitter. I kept twisting my body, hanging my limbs on furniture and bending my legs up when changing seats. The Cozey Ciello XL makes this both easy and very difficult.
The couch seat itself is great, although it sounds a bit wrinkled. They’re deep and comfortable, as long as you’re sitting in the chair rather than facing two of them (in which case the stiff structure underneath will make it feel like you’re being split in half). Unless you’re extremely tall, if you move all the way back, your legs and/or feet will dangle. The back cushion leaves much to be desired. The back of the sofa and the armrests are both very boxy and low, so when you lean back and try to wrap your arms around the back of the sofa, it feels a bit awkward. The seat cushion also tends to slide forward, away from the back cushion, and the back and arm cushions do not like to stay in one place. That meant I had to spend a lot of time rearranging the sofa instead of just sitting on it. This same design problem means that when you sit next to each other, you end up sinking into the person sitting next to you. There’s more than enough room for two people to sit on opposite ends of the sofa, but again—I can sit next to someone else without invading their personal space.
