Cowboys HC McCarthy: No timetable for Dak Prescott’s return
Sunday night went as poorly as possible for the Dallas Cowboys, as they lost both their regular-season opener to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and started quarterback Dak Prescott down to serious levels. thumb injury caused him to have surgery.
It was previously reported that Prescott would be sidelined for six to eight weeks of action due to the failure. Like Charean Williams Noting to Pro Football Talk, Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that Prescott will be under the knife on Monday afternoon and the team does not currently have an exact timetable for his return to the squad. McCarthy also compared the situation to something he went through in the process time with Green Bay Packers.
“Sure, it starts with grip,” McCarthy explains. “In 1999, Brett Favre actually suffered three separate injuries to his hand, and I think he later got his thumb pinned. So they were all different and obviously with one hand and exactly where it is and we’ll obviously know once the surgery is done and etc. Yeah, so I don’t have a schedule but you’re talking about his throwing hand, so… ”
As things go today, the unproven backup Cooper Rush is topping the Cowboys depth chart at the sport’s most important spot, but Dallas has link in stories with San Francisco 49ers veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and Pittsburgh Steelers Mason Rudolph’s third string option. Its unclear if either team will trade with the Cowboys by the November 1 deadline for such deals.
Dallas will next host the Cincinnati Bengals 0-1 this Sunday.
