You never want to see a player fall from injury, but the injuries that happened last season seem to hurt even more. It’s a figurative pain that the Dallas Cowboys are feeling today as the buyer of their new wide receiver, James Washington, is literally feeling foot pain.
ESPN are reporting that according to their sources, the Cowboys fear Washington broke his leg during training camp on Monday.
The report comes complete with a video from training camp showing Washington running a deep side road while covered by superstar Trevon Diggs. The pass to Washington was broken by Diggs, but the corner made significant contact in the process. Washington fell to the ground before slowly getting up and hobbling unsuccessfully.
Washington, with whom the Cowboys signed a one-year deal last season, was eventually dropped from the field.
Depending on the results of Washington’s foot test, Dallas’ already thin reception room could be even thinner. Michael Gallup was largely expected to be the No. 2 for Dallas after CeeDee Lamb after the team swapped Amari Cooper for the Browns, but he wasn’t ready to leave in Week 1 after being torn apart by the ACL this past January.
