Gulfport, all alone at the Bashford Manor . wire | Coady
Coolmore has reached an agreement with Bashford winner Manor S. Gulfport (Uncle Mo–Fame and Fortune, by Unbridled’s Song) against the undefeated 2-year-old pony at Ashford Stud when he retired. Gulfport is owned by L. William and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Jackpot Ranch and Whisosystem Oaks LLC.
Bred in Kentucky by Diamond Creek Ranch, Gulfport made $275,000 from Pick View as an avid July Kentucky Fasig-Tipton. He debuted for Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen on June 10 at Churchill Downs with a seven-long score to earn ‘Rising Star TDN‘ designation. He was even more impressive when he came back on July 4th Bashford Manor at the same track, knocking his opponent’s door open with 12 1/4 shots was a 1-5 favorite. That was the widest margin in the history of the six-hair black type event and his time of 1:09.25 was the second fastest time in the race. Gulfport won a 91 Beyer Speed Number for the effort, the second-highest number by a 2-year-old this year.

Gulfport will eventually side with his male – one of the industry’s perennial top males – at Ashford. He is not the daughter of MGISW Stop Traffic (Cure the Blues) who also produces GISW Cross Traffic, a full brother of Fame and Fortune. GI Cigar Mile H. 2021 Winner Americanrevolution (Structure) are also part of the extended family, while Gulfport’s 3-year-old half-sister Favor (Pioneerof the Nile) was included in the GII Fair Grounds Oaks earlier this year.
