Controversial comedian Jerry Sadowitz’s Edinburgh Fringe show CANCELLED by venue bosses

A controversial comedian has been canceled by an Edinburgh Fringe venue after he ‘put his penis on stage’ and made ‘unacceptable jokes’ on his opening night.

Jerry Sadowitz, 60, who also performs magic, is expected to play at The Pleasance at the Edinburgh International Convention Center on Friday and Saturday.

But the US-born Scot took to social media to reveal that his second night would not take place before that, before the venue confirmed it had been withdrawn because his documents ‘didn’t. consistent with our values.’

A female spectator claimed he held his penis in front of a woman in the front row and used a racial slur to describe Rishi Sunak, the Scottish Sun reported.

She told the newspaper: ‘I was at the show. He calls Rishi Sunak ‘p ***’; said the economy was terrible because it was run by ‘blacks and women’.

‘He gave his penis to a woman in the front row. It’s not the audience that matters – I know he’s a man of taste. It was his indisputable content’.

Pleasance has so far declined to confirm what part of the action is deemed offensive, but it said in a statement that ‘opinions such as those presented by Sadowitz are unacceptable. Okay.’

MailOnline has contacted Sadowitz for comment.

Some furious fans say bosses have known him controversial, as the initial listing contained a warning that read: ‘This show contains strong language and themes that some people have can feel sad.’

Some took to Twitter to brand The Pleasance as ‘pathetic’, while others said the cancellation was due to ‘censorship’.

One fan said that she absolutely loved the movie but about ’20 lefties’ dropped out midway.

Revealing the decision, Sadowitz said on Twitter: ‘A show last night, 75 minutes, thought it went well. Can’t see any path.

‘I was informed today that my show has been cancelled. Great tool. I’m really sorry to everyone who came to see the show tonight. ‘

The Pleasance Theater Trust said the second performance had been canceled ‘with immediate effect’.

It said in a statement: ‘Opinions such as those displayed on stage by Sadowitz are unacceptable and The Pleasance is not prepared to be affiliated with such documents. ‘

In a recent promotional video, Sadowitz holds up a bird puppet as he tells customers what to expect.

Referring to himself, Sadowitz said: ‘He’s going to be funny. He will be rude. He will do magic tricks.

‘He’s going to impress. He’ll get his *** out.

‘He’ll do anything f******, so make sure you go see him.’

A further description of the show states that he will return with ‘deep impressions of Greta Thunberg, Frankie Boyle and deep vein thrombosis’.

It said he ‘also promises less hateful swearing and more focus on fake liberal pish to appeal to the middle class and their disposable incomes and personalities’.

He added: ‘Please note I could just do card games and say nothing for an hour or I could just do the usual ‘fascist scream’. Or both.

‘Parents may want to drink first to avoid boredom, shame and guilt.’

Announcing the screening’s cancellation, The Pleasance director, Anthony Alderson, added: ‘The Pleasance is a venue that advocates for free speech and we do not censor comedians’ material.

‘While we acknowledge that Jerry Sadowitz is often controversial, the material presented at his first show is unacceptable and inconsistent with our values.

“This kind of material has no place in the festival and Pleasance will not be performing his second and final performance.”
